I am 33 years old and slightly over weight. Like so many of us I spent my teens and early 20's without a care in the world and doing absolutely nothing to stay wonderfully thin. I have tried all the quick fixes which after stopping them, they quickly unfix. I finally decided that I was going to have to get up off my lazy butt and exercise. The thought of a gym with all the barbie girls in bikinis horrified me so my mother suggested Curves for Women, an all ladies gym.
I went into curves to inquire about it and found they were having a food drive. In place of a sign up fee I brought in 2 bags of food. From then on the price was around $37.00 a month. The machines are set up on a circuit and they are hydrolic. The music is loud with a great beat (mostly oldies but goodies). The staff is extremely helpful and the ladies working out are very nice. The staff took me to each and every machine and showed me how to use it. They then measured and weighed me. Then it was my turn to do it on my own. I found it very easy and actually fun! This coming from someone who NEVER exercised. I love that it is very structured and I know exactly what to do, when to do it and where to do it. There is no guess work involved. The music has a voice that comes over and tells you when to move to the next machine. Once you get comfortable with the circuit you then get a little micro chip thingy on a key ring that you plug into each machine when you work out and at the end you put it into a main computer. The chip keeps records of your progress and what you're good at and the things you need to work on more. The ladies working out there are there to work out and not there for a Ms. Fitness Olympia photo shoot (you know what I mean).
I can't say enough about this place. I think it is awesome and I ACTUALLY look forward to working out after work each day! I say go for it and have fun getting healthy!!
