D23 magazine is a quarterly magazine that you receive for free when you have a membership to Disney's D23 club. If you are not a member of the club, you can purchase copies at the Disney store and I have heard some book stores for $15.95 per issue. The magazine, as well as Disney's D twenty three club were launched in the Spring of 2009.
This magazine is absolutely beautiful and the pictures in it are gorgeous. Compared to other magazines, this one is huge and measures almost 12 X 12. It is printed on high quality, thick paper, has a glued spine and some covers even have embossed print on them. The coolest part is that there is no advertising in it except for all the shameless Disney plugs.
The name D23 was given to is because the Walt Disney Company was founded in 1923 and the magazine and the club were created to pay homage to Disney and to give the biggest fans an inside look at what is going on at the parks, in the movies and on TV, peeks at Broadway shows and it highlights many the stars that make Disney entertainment possible. They also include in each issue some history about Disney along with vintage photos and classic comic strips. Some of the issues also include fun stuff like crafts and recipes. You occasionally get some pretty cool bonus things with issues too like the Haunted Mansion issue which came with a really nice patch.
Each issue of this magazine is a collectors item and not only make a great read but also looks great displayed on a coffee table or bookshelf. If you are a Disney fan or know someone that is, this magazine is defiantly worth checking out.
