I purchased these Magnetic Kissing Dachshund Salt & Pepper shakers two years ago at a Hallmark store. I have seen them in other dog breeds since and have tried to get more of the Dachshund ones for friends, but they sell out so quickly. This set was $9.99 on sale when I got them and normally would not spend anything on something like this, but they are so cute!

When I opened the package, the noses (mangetic part) were actually off of the dogs. Thank goodness for Super Glue and I did allow them to dry a few days before using the magnets. The magnets are small, but super strong and hold tight. The dogs are each just over 2 inches long and made of painted ceramic.

I have not put salt and pepper in them yet, but they faithfully sit in my kitchen, just watching over it all.

The black male dachshund shaker has 2 holes on his back and the brown female has 3 holes on her back.

The male dog has a painted blue collar and the girl has a pink flower and pink collar.

The only thing that would have made these perfect is if one had been a dapple, like our little guy.

As far as durability goes, I have personally dropped them onto my kitchen counter twice now and so far they are fine. I am sure the floor would be a different result.

But I love my little dachshund salt and pepper shakers and for anyone looking for a gift, check out your local Hallmark store. They really do have cute items and you may just find the dog breed or even a holiday salt and pepper shakers set that you like.

These sets are also sold online and I have seen the price range from $8.95 - $11.99, so that's still not bad.
