Dawn Ultra Concentrated liquid detergent is the best hand dishwashing liquid on the market. Period.
I used to be brand loyal to a different dish liquid, but they cheapened their formula. Dawn is now my dish detergent of choice. If you wash dishes by hand, especially pots and pans or greasy casserole dishes, you need Dawn concentrated liquid detergent!
This soap makes nice suds in the water, although it is rather a thick product and you may need to swish it around with your hand a bit to get the sudsing started. Those suds will last a long time and not break down after just a few dishes. You can wash a stack of dishes from a meal and all the cooking dishes as well and not have to change the water.
Dawn’s big claim has always been that it really breaks up the grease. It really does this, better than any other brand on the market, in my opinion.
I prefer the original scent (blue in color), sort of a fresh smell, but it also comes in citrus burst (yellow), and apple blossom (green).
One possible reason to not use the concentrated formula is if you only hand wash an occasional single dish under running water. In that case, it might make economic sense to buy a cheaper product and squeeze a little on the dish sponge or cloth.
The most recent time I purchased it, it had a new flip top cap instead of the old design. I’m not sure what I think of that yet. It seems more cheaply made, but it fits over the entire top of the bottle, so there is a good chance that it will still actually be able to close as the gunk begins to build up around the squirt top. The new bottle shape has a nice groove in the side so you can hold the bottle with slippery hands easily.
