On a recent trip to Texas, my family and I stayed at the Days Inn in Lytle, Texas. It is located off Interstate 35 about 23 miles south of downtown San Antonio.
This was a small hotel, that was in a convenient location, close to the family members who live in Texas. We arrived in the early morning hours and they had a couple of rooms left on the second floor. We checked into the hotel at an outside window. I felt like we were at a drive thru window! There was no hotel lobby just a check in/check out window where you slide your money or key under the glass opening.
The rooms were small and nothing to write home about. I think the time we arrived and taking into effect how tired we were made it even less appealing. There were two beds, a small refrigerator, a microwave and a television. They had a radio/alarm clock in the room but I called for a wake up call just in case it malfunctioned. Good thing I did because it never went off in the morning.
When we checked in the rooms were hot and musty smelling. It didn't take long for the air conditioner to kick in and cool the room off. The next day when we went out, we left the air conditioner on hoping they wouldn't turn it off. It was thankfully left on all day!
The worst part about this hotel was the bathroom. The walls needed some repairs and painting. The shower head in the shower was installed at a height of only 5 foot. I had to duck down in order to wash my hair. The other thing I wish they would do is use a fabric softener on their towels and bedding. They were rough and stratchy.
They had a small outdoor pool which we didn't use. I guess if we were staying in the area longer we would have enjoyed it. It was clean and very nicely surrounded by tropical plants.
Overall, this was a convenient place to stay, but I would rather stay closer to the San Antonio area next time, in a newer hotel.
