This is the second book in a trilogy by Dean Koontz. It is a modern version of the story of Frankenstein. I had not ever read the original so I wasn't so sure that I wanted to read these, but because I have become a huge Dean Koontz fan, I decided that I would infact read this series. I am so glad I did.

This book takes off where the first one left off. Basically it is that a monster was in fact created (Frankenstein was not fiction) and they are still renovating and being created in modern times. These look like humans and most of us would not recognize them. However the first and original monster is on the loose and he is not happy (to say the least). This is the story of detectives in New Orleans who have discovered this unbelievable story and are trying to come to grasps with it and in fact save their city.

This is a book to not be missed, but you should read the first in the series to better understand and enjoy the book. I know I am anxiously awaiting the third and final book. However, while it should have been published a long time ago, it has not for some reason. So I do warn you, that at this time, you will not be able to finish the story.
