As a die-hard sports fan, I love collecting things connected to my favorite teams. Although I love football and watch other sports also, baseball is my first love.
My closet and office are filled with shirts, jackets, books, autographed baseballs, bats, photos and many more items related to my obsession for sports. I've got t-shirts that I bought back in the 1970s. They no longer fit, but do you think I could get rid of them? No way!! They're still part of my beloved sports collection.
A couple of years ago, while visiting Fenway Park in Boston, I visited a large sporting goods store located right across from the ballpark. It's called the "Yawkey Way Store" and probably any Red Sox fan would tell you they are familiar with it, either by visiting it or hearing about it. It's a sports collector's paradise.
While looking for that special shirt to commemorate my visit, I searched the store over and over. So many great shirts, but so little money to spend. I had just about settled for something that I wasn't crazy about when I spotted this shirt hanging on the wall. It was perfect! It made me laugh and it expressed exactly how I felt about the hated Yankees, Boston's long-time rival.
The shirt is very well made and is very soft and comfortable. It's 100% cotton, but was pre-washed so I didn't have to worry about it shrinking. I love the color, but most of all, I love what it says.
It's hard to admit that I'm getting old. My body may show it, but my mind is still young and that fact is what allows me to keep buying and wearing shirts like this. I love them and in this case, I love the way it makes others laugh also and it's a great conversation starter. So, let me behave like I'm still 20 because when it comes to my teams, I am still very young at heart. Just don't tell me how silly I look because I don't care. Now, GO SOX!
