I received a full-sized sample (4 fl. oz.) of Burt's Bees All-Natural Lemongrass Outdoor Lotion at the BabyTime Show in the swag bag passed out at the door. It is a great alternative product to use on kids for repelling insects.
One thing I found interesting about the packaging is that it comes in a hard stainless steel silver bottle with cap and a separate spray pump was also included in the box. Even though the box said 'lotion' it comes with a spray pump and in a bottle that can't be sqeezed. All you need to do is screw off the cap from the bottle, insert the pump and screw it on tight.
This is no typical 'lotion'! It's consistency in its container is that of water, not creamy like most lotions. When sprayed it runs and leaves an oily sheen behind on your skin. The colour of the liquid is amber and will stain clothes so be careful when using it. The scent is lemony and not overpowering. It has a nice refreshing, nasal passage clearing effect like that of VIcks but only milder. I find that it lasts a long time and doesn't need to reapplied too often. It is not waterproof so you'll have to reapply after swimming.
It is made from soyabean oil, eucalyptus oil and lemongrass oil. I've used this on my baby and the packaging states that it could be used on children and even pets, if you spray it into your hands first and apply it to them afterwards. This is one deet-free all-natural product that is safe for children and does exactly what it says!
