When you find yourself scanning the New Release aisle looking for a great family film during these last lazy days of summer, give this flick a try. Action, comedy, fantasy, and just a hint of romance make this an enjoyable movie for all ages.

Delgo is a story about reconciling differences, forgiving the past, and forging relationships with others who are different from yourself. Front and centre are two teens: a Lockney youth named Delgo, and the Nohrin princess Kyla, who meet 15 years after a bitter war between their two races. While political and social relations are still rocky at best, these two form a Romeo and Juliet-type relationship. But when an evil conspiritor from the past reemerges to kidnap the princess and stir up trouble, Delgo finds himself in the middle of a heroic rescue mission while war is breaking out all around him.

Overall this is a good film. While it will probably be most enjoyed by viewers who love fantasy, it still has lots to offer everyone else. The story is relatable, and the graphics are breathtaking as they introduce you to a whole new world.

The Special Features on this DVD are excellent! I can honestly say I enjoyed them just as much as the actual movie. There is a "See the Creatures" section where you can scroll through and read about all the fantasy animals invented for the movie. There is a Short Film called "Chroma Chameleon", which is both gorgeous and hilarious. And there are several deleted scenes, which I highly recommend. I enjoyed them so much, I wished they had been in the actual movie! They are funny and add to the character development, which is a tad lacking in the final version.

Delgo is rated PG for fantasy violence. I would recommend it for families with children 8 & up.

Happy Watching!
