Dell 20" Webcam Monitor Flat Screen was the first monitor purchase I have ever made. This is because most of my previous monitors came with a computer package. In those cases, the monitor was always standard or medior at best. I was happy when the package arrived because it made it to me safe and sound without any damage during the shipping process. The monitor was securely packed with foam boards. The monitor is like a plug and play. It was easy to set up and began to work immediately. The do have a cd to install the webcam features and the installation was easy and no hassle at all.
The monitor has four 2.0 USB ports making it easier to use USB ports without having to reach the computer (mine is on a usb stand next to the desk, so sometimes the usb wire is not long enough. In this case, I can now use the monitor to plug in my camera instead of toggling the computer from the floor. In addition, the back side of the monitor has a cable coordinator, eliminating the wire mess that can come from so many other peripherals. That is one of my favorite features on this.
The webcam seems to produce excellent quality images and video. I was impressed. This monitor features a webcam that is far better than the top leading brands of webcams. I have tried aroudn a half dozen webcams from the leading companies and this one far beats the quality anywhere. The webcam monitor center is user-friendly. You can change the contrast, brightness, and, and color. The picture quality is unbelievable. I tried the monitor while my hair was a mess, and I looked good on it!
The overall picture quality of the monitor is about average to above average. It is far better than my 15" that I have had for years. The eyestrain is gone and my neck pains have settled down with the bigger monitor.
I bought this for $289 plus I had free shipping, but with tax it cost $307. I do not know why Dell charges tax if there is not a Dell store here that I know of in Illinois. Usually when I buy a monitor online, I can avoid the tax. Look how much the price went up with the tax included. Be careful with that.
Overall, I recommend it to save money in the long run. The webcam feature is well worth over the $100 dollars for top webcams on the market today. So, it is like paying $189 for a monitor and the rest for webcam. That is a great deal for a feature-rich monitor.
