This is an XM radio designed for vehicles. I had it installed at the auto audio store where I purchased it. You can install it right out of the package yourself if you know what your'e doing!
It features a menu where you can customize the display; store favorite channels; set a sports or stock ticker and other things to suit your preferences.
There is a search feature for the channels. It's hard to use though while you're driving because you have to actually look at the screen! You can group your favorite channels which is cool when you're in the mood for a particular style of music or if you're looking for an interesting talk channel.
I don't think I could go back to regular radio. There's just something about tuning into a station that you've selected because it plays song after song of your favorites. With very, very few commercials to boot!
While the display is perfectly readable at about 2 inches high, as noted above it can be difficult to view while driving. This can be made simpler if you play around with the display settings. One of the display options is changing the backlight. Currently, I have my backlight set as bright green. This makes the text much easier to read--especially at night. Safety first! You can also choose blue, pink, yellow, or orange. Mix it up according to your mood!
You might also want to take view-ability (is that a word?!) into account when you have the unit installed. Mine is on a bracket to the right of my center panel. Not ideal by any means!
Subscription runs about $10 per month but varies depending on the package you choose.
