I got this as a Christmas gift this year and really haven't had a chance to use it until now. I decided to bring it in to work and we can use it as a "swear jar" or something (probably something else because I'll be the one contributing to it usually if it's only a swear jar ;) ) Once we have enough money, I'll use the cash to get us some office treats or something.
It's a nice little device-good quality plastic that doesn't look like it's going to break when teh jar is full. It looks like it will hold quite a bit of money, too! You slip the coins in one-by-one and the machine counts your coins based on the size of the coin inserted. It tells you what is being counted, then flashes the total up on it's little LCD screen. There is a - finction, too, so if you're making a withdrawal, you can take out the amount you're removing one by one. So far it seems to be very accurate, especially since you see what you're putting in-ie it flashes $0.05 when yo uput in a nickel, then it shows the new total after that. If you slip a coin in far enough then accidently take it out, however, it still counts the coin in the total, so you could be off if you have bad aim!
This would be IDEAL for teaching a young one how to count money or how to save up for a special treat! Made a great gift and I can see that we're going to have fun with this at work!
