This is the album that really pushed Depeche Mode into mainstream success in America. The slow and steady buildup from their previous works really paid off when they released this great disc and the public took notice.

Four of the songs here were hits on the radio: Personal Jesus, Policy of Truth, World in My Eyes, and Enjoy the Silence. These songs were all over the radio and MTV. Personal Jesus also featured a great acoustic version of the song on the single that is worth hearing but not included on this disc.

While those four hit songs are certainly great, the rest of the album is just as good. I particularly enjoy Halo and Sweetest Perfection. The disc features the band really honing their sound and trying new things. It is an exciting disc that builds on their previous works and takes it to a new level. All of the songs are great and they all sound like they belong together as well. My only complaint about the disc is that it is too short. The brevity of the disc works in that it leaves me wanting more.
