The DigiLife DDV-9000 is an affordable digital video camera. This sleek, 2.4" LCD, light mini DV is actually packed with features. It has 5X optical zoom, Flash, self-timer, and weighs only 112 grams without the battery (which doesn't add that much either, being a flat Li-ion battery). For a starter DV, this will definitely be a good camera.
Sensor. It has a 5.0 Mega Pixel Sensor, with up to 11 MP for Still Image. That is, up to 3, 824x2, 864 resolution. You can adjust the white balance automatically, for different lighting settings. For photo capture mode, the Flash is quite sufficient even in very dark lightings.
Operation Modes. It supports movie recording (640x480 at 30 frames per second VGA, AVI), Photo capture is at most 3824x2864 at 11MP, and 2560x1920 at 5MP. The images are stored as JPG. It also supports Voice Recording, which is stored in WAV format.
Memory. There is a small internal memory, but I highly recommend buying an external memory and maximizing the 2 GB SD card support). It will allow for more than 3 hours of video capture, and thousands of pictures.
Dimensions. 64x105x26.2 mm
Interface. USB 2.0 / TV Out
Pros. It's light, affordable, and comes with a lot of features. The photos are definitely high quality, even in various lighting conditions. Good flash. Optical zoom works well without sacrificing much quality. For its price, it's definitely performing quite well.
Cons. For taking videos indoors, it may not produce too great results (a little dark). But outdoor videos are great. Since the battery is designed specifically for this camera, I don't know where to buy extra batteries.
