Joe and I decided to hop a bus to the Contemporary Resort to see if we could be seated at the California Grill.

After the slight head rush from the speeding elevator to the 15th floor we were treated to quite a view!!! We were too late to witness the fireworks in Magic Kingdom, but the view of the castle changing colors all night was something to see…

Absolutely incredible…

That being said, the magic of the California Grill stopped at the view…

I know that lots of people rave about this place, and it is possible that it was an off night, but both Joe and I thought that the food was just passable… Certainly not worth the extravagant price!!!

We both ordered the potato soup, the outside was lukewarm and the center was cold.. just as if this dish had been snapped out of the freezer and popped into the microwave. While I would find microwave meals exceptable at Dunkin' Donuts, if I am paying over $150 for a meal I want it to be a bit better than Stouffers.

I ordered a scallop dish and he ordered fish… The food was indescribable... and this is not a good thing. I have tried to wipe the experience from my mind and it would be better if you did not have to live through a disection, trust me.

For desert I opted for the special chocolate cake that had to be ordered 30 minutes ahead of time for it to be prepared… I am sorry but it was terrible! I cannot recall when Joe ordered for desert…

I would not go back there for anything but the view.

We both would have preferred to have gone back to our room for a tuna sandwich, but I think that if I hadn’t had been able to try this restaurant I would have felt like I had missed out on something…

It's too bad, though, as we could have had dinner at Emeril's.
