When I first started writing jokes for comics, it was important to read about new things in as many diversified areas as I could absorb. I looked around for an interesting way to find news on science-related subjects, and I discovered DISCOVER MAGAZINE. Under the magazine title, it says "Science, Techology and The Future", and that's exactly what the magazine publishes articles about.

This is no highbrow, hard-to-understand, elitist, scholarly magazine. This is a newsy, easy-to-understand glossy magazine. And while you won't find information on which bathing suit makes you look ten pounds lighter, your brain will love every page of the magazine.

There's science news. And regular columns, like Vital Signs where a physician writes up an interesting, intriguing case they have encountered. There's Mind Games, where you can test your intelligence solving a puzzle, or finding an answer. There are news blurbs about all kinds of interesting things. In Jaron's World, you will read an essay that will leave you thinking. One month you might read the list of the most probable ways the world would end, another month you could read the 6 Most Important Experiments in the World. There's also book reviews in each issue.

I never thought I'd say this, but I really look forward to my monthly fix of science, technology and The Furture news. I've re-subscribed over and over again. At least 10 times! Discover is a great read for anyone from a teen to a teen-at-heart.
