This is a great coffee table size book for any lover of Disney who would like to read about how it all began. This book is over 500 pages long, written by Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston. They both worked for Disney Studio back in the 1930s and then quit to write this book.

The book has 489 full color pictures and thousands of black-and-white illustrations. It tells the story of how Disney animation began and how it has progressed over the years. This is really a beautiful book, something I have treasured for years. I purchased it from a mail order book store which is no longer in existence, but it is available online at numerous places. Amazon.com has it for a little over $47.00. I paid about $30.00 for it at the time I purchased it, and the book was originally $60.00, so I was lucky to get such a discount. The book goes into detail about how different Disney characters came about, and if you are interested in a behind-the-scenes look at how your favorite Disney characters came into existence, you would love this book.

A must have for any Disney fan.

Update On Dec 18, 2008: One thing I wanted to clarify. I stated that the authors of this book quit their jobs to write it. What they did is retire in 1978 and then team up to put together this book. I always want to be accurate.
