My Husband, Daughter (10) and I sailed on the Disney Wonder in March of 2010. We did the 4 day cruise to Nassau Bahamas and Castaway Cay the Disney private island.
At first glance Disney Cruise line seems more expensive that other cruise lines however you are not constantly Nickel and Dimed every minute on board. Things like Soda and Juice are included.
Nassau is a relitavly safe area if you use common sense and stay in the tourist area's or go on a guided tour. I would suggest if you have never been there to book your excursion with the cruise line. There is tons of duty-free shopping if you are interested in purchasing alcohol the prices on board the ship are about the same and you're not lugging it around with you all day. Take a bottle of water with you off the ship as you will pay dearly for in on shore I paid $3.75 for a small Red Bull.
The Disney Private island Castaway is the best part by far you are greeted by the prop ship from Pirates of the Caribbean and Jack Sparrow is on the island for pictures. Even if you plan to explore the island get to the beach and find your place. It get's crowded very quickly.
The final night of the cruise they have a big Pirate Party some cruisers get really into it and dress up. If you can purchase pirate costumes after Halloween for the kids they are expensive onboard. After the live performance they close the pool and everyone watches a midnight showing (outdoors) of the movie. There is also a huge buffet.
The shows every night are great and very entertaining.
My only complaint is that we had one day of rain and while the kids are entertained every minute there wasn't allot of adult indoor activities.
The Kids activities are great we didn't see my daughter very much at all and had to drag her out to go to bed at night. You get a schedule of what they are doing when. There are first run Disney movies on board.
This is Disney without the hours of standing inline waiting. You will not be disappointed.
