Living near a Dollar General Store, I stop in often for things I need when I don't feel like going to a bigger store. In general, I've been happy with the products I have purchased there.
After forgetting to buy paper towels during my last grocery trip, I stopped by DG and bought a roll to tide me over. I looked over the various name brands, but focused on the cheaper ones since I use so many. I found one product that had perforated sheets in smaller sizes, which I prefer.
Because my dog is always nearby and I am often petting her or handling her toys, I wash my hands constantly. A kitchen towel would be simpler and more ecological, but I find that it gets used for other things and then I question whether it's really clean anymore, especially if I'm going to be handling food or dishes. It's not worth the risk, so I use paper towels most of the time.
When I bought the Dollar General towels, they looked so much like the brand I normally use that I figured the two products were comparable. Boy was I wrong! This product is junk. There is nothing good I can say about it. As soon as I used the first sheet, I immediately knew they were worthless. Not only were the towels rough and felt about half as thick as the ones I normally use, they literally fell apart as I was wiping my hands with them. They shred into worthless pieces. I realize that you get what you pay for, so I wasn't expecting to be able to scrub dirt with them, but I had this crazy idea that they would allow me to dry my hands. They didn't.
Unfortunately, I can't think of one positive comment to make about this product. It wasn't even less expensive than my usual brand. The next time I need paper towels in a pinch, I'll just save the money and wipe my hands on my shirt. It would do a better job.
