We went around Toys R Us the other day, scouting for good finds for our Christmas gifts to kids of friends. We brought our 7-mold old baby along because she enjoys going around the mall. We would show her different toys, big and small, expensive and cheap, but nothing caught her fancy.
We were already at the check out counter when I saw a container full of You & Me dolls. I chose the one with no hair because my baby is still small. The doll is bald but with a bonnet and matching clothes. The head is rubber, the eyes plastic but not moving and the body is made up of fiber wrapped in cloth that are to be the baby's clothes. It is only about 8 inches long. There were three clothes designs to choose from and I allowed my baby to choose for herself. She chose the one wearing a blue and orange jumpsuit. No matter how I interchanged the dolls, this was what she wanted. Up until now, she would bring the doll anywhere and everywhere--chewing her, hugging her, or merely carrying her around. Her grandmother named the doll Chloe after our dog named Zoe. Imagine that.
Anyway, I like the doll for our baby because it is light so there is no danger about her getting bumps and bruises on her body because she still cannot fully control her arm movements. She can also chew on the toy without any danger that she will bite off something. And since it is fiber inside, it does not cause allergy. And most of all, I can handwash it anytime when it gets really grubby. Actually I washed it before giving it to my baby.
It is also very affordable. There are other more experiences varieties of You & Me dolls but this particular baby doll is just the right size for my baby. After all, she is only 7 months old. She feels like a mom taking care of her baby girl. Such a cute sight. Sorry, no pictures yet with baby and the doll. Maybe next time.
