There are many reasons that I have become a believer in the new LED flameless candles.

I have bought three sizes 4 inch, 6 inch, and 10 inches tall (all are 3.25 inches in diameter). They operate on C or D batteries, depending on the size of the candle. The battery life is very good (several hundred hours per set of batteries). The outside of the candle is made of wax, so it looks and feels real.

Flameless candles are obviously better from a fire safety standpoint. There are an estimated 18, 000 candle related fires each year in the United States. It is impossible for flameless candles to start a fire.

Traditional candles can cause injury to children and pets - Flameless candles are safe and foolproof. Ordinary candles can result in hot wax flowing onto furniture or carpets, resulting in mess and damage. Some people may be sensitive to the smoke from ordinary candles.

Modern flameless candles come in a variety of sizes. They have a light vanilla scent. They flicker naturally and provide the same ambiance as ordinary candles. Unless I call attention to my flameless candles, most people just think that they are traditional ones.

With flameless candles, you don't need to worry about blowing them out before you leave the house or go to bed.

Admittedly, flameless candles are more expensive than traditional candles, but over the long run, the cost of batteries is less expensive than buying new candles to replace those that have burnt down and are no longer attractive.

Though wax and wick candles have been around for hundreds of years, the new flameless candles are better in many ways.
