Currently my daughter's favorite toy is her Dora The Explorer's Talking Doll House. "Santa" got it for her at Target for $49.99. Based on the hit TV show, it's made by Fisher-Price, and is recommended for children 3 and up. Included with it are Dora, Nani, Papi, and a sofa.

What sets it apart from other doll houses is that it talks. Using Dora's voice, it says over 20 phrases, not only in English, but each are repeated in Spanish as well. I really like that feature. My daughter will learn the words and phrases, such as "I'm hungry", "The cookies are in the oven", or when the working doorbell is pressed - "OLA! Welcome to my house!"

The house itself is very well made, from the orange corrugated shingles to the intricate bathroom tile. It's a very brightly-colored, cheerful, and well-detailed doll house. Also, it swings open, as well as raises to a second level, so while it's compact for storage, it's actually a very roomy playhouse.

In the living room, there is a radio that plays music when you turn it on. Other than that, even though each room is distinctive and much-detailed, the house is empty. Each room's furniture and accessories are available for $4.99 per room, which isn't bad, but it certainly adds up quick in order to furnish the entire house. (Also available are familiar characters from the TV show like Diego, Swiper the Fox, her cat, etc.) My daughter collects a room at a time, as holiday gifts here and there, or as her allowance allows.

This is a twist on the traditional doll house that every girl (and maybe boys) will recognize from the TV show, and will love to play with.
