I have had this backpack for as long as I can remember, which is probably about 8 years. I've used it everyday at school for those 8 years, and it hasn't worn out on me. Eastpak certainly makes quality products; I remember when I bought it it had a tag that said "built for life."
It's still comfortable but durable, and holds plenty of books. Since it is completely black I have not grown tired of the pattern or color of it like I have with other school things over the years.
It has 2 large areas where I put my larger books or things, and in the primary one it has a slot for your laptop. Then there are also two smaller pockets on the front. The topmost of these has a sort of padding, which is where I used to keep my walkman CD player (back when people still used those). Now I keep my pencils, pens, and flash drives in there.
The only thing that has happened to it is that one of the zipper tabs came off the one side of the zipper. Luckily, they made it with two zipper tabs for each zipper, so I've still been able to use it fine; I haven't bothered to fix it yet.
So while it might not have been "built for life, " I'll still be using it for the rest of my school years.
