With almost 7 or 8 years between the birth of the twins and the newest edition to our family, I had to repurchase a lot of the baby gear that I had gotten rid of. One such item was a play pen. I wanted an area on the main floor for the baby where he could sleep so I didn't have to rush him upstairs to the nursery. So, one day while in Babies R' Us, I spotted the Eddie Bauer Soothe and Sway Playard on sale and bought one.
It can be used from newborn to toddler. It has a bassinet and change table attached that can be used up to 15lbs and the playard up to 30lbs. There is a removeable light that plays music and even vibrates to give your baby a soothing rocking sensation. There is also a wind-up modile with three teddy bears. The mobile isn't the greatest. Dorel could've invested a little more in this feature to even make it battery operated. It is a pack n' play so it comes with a travel storage bag and wheels on the bottom of the play pen to help you move it. It is not lightweight, but VERY heavy. It isn't easy to install, especially if you don't read the instructions! So if you decide to buy this playpen, And I recommend that you do, take my advice and READ the instructions BEFORE trying to set it up.
Also, as my son got older (@ around 18 months), he actually kicked through the mesh on the side and ripped it with his hands. He's so smart that he when we put him in it, he would stick his foot in the hole to give him leverage to swing his foot over the side, attempting to get out. As you can probably tell by now, we no longer use this playpen but it did serve its true purpose of allowing him to have a space sleep, play and be changed in our main floor family room.
**There was a recall on another model of this playpen, not the one that I have. My model number is 05088CBYT, manufactured May 1, 2006.
