I purchased a gasoline operate Weed Eater Power Edge PE 550 in the spring of 2008 for the sole purpose of trimming the edge on the sides of my concrete driveway and concrete curbing along the street. I like the look of a precise, clean edge and while a weed eater may be good for trimming around bushes and trees, it does not leave a crisp, clean, professional looking edge like a power edge machine does. The Weed Eater Power Edge PE 550 has a 22cc engine that requires a two cycle oil + gas fuel mixture. It is equipped with two wheel stabilization, fuel primer button, three position choke and an anti-vibration handle. The rotating trimming blade is height adjustable and protected with a guard that has blade markings so you will know how to position the trimming blade by lining the marks next to the driveway or curb edge. There is an on/off toggle switch . The machine is started by priming and pulling a crank rope similar to a lawnmower. The color is Weed Eater green.
I purchased the gasoline operate Weed Eater Power Edge PE 550 at Lowe's hardware store for $149.00 which may seem a little excessive, but this tool cut my back breaking hand trimming job down to a few minutes. I was also able to use a $10.00 Lowe's discount coupon which helped reduce the price.
