Elf is the story of a baby in an orphanage that crawls out of his crib and into Santa's bag of goodies one Christmas Eve, and isn't discovered until after Santa gets back to the North Pole, so the elves decide to raise him as one of their own. The grown-up elf, whose name is Buddy, is played wonderfully by Will Ferrell, and he is told one day by his adopted father, Bob Neuhart, that he is really a human, and thats why he's so much taller than all the other elves his own age. I think this is possibly the best Christmas movie ever made, and it is also one of the funniest movies in general ever made. I love the Christmas season, and this movie will get me through the year if I start to miss it in July. The other performances in the movie are great as well, and include James Cann (TV's Las Vegas, The Godfather) as Buddy's biological father, Ed Asner as Santa, and Zooey Deschenel as a clerk in a department store that Buddy falls for. The movie is rated PG, so its safe for all audiences, and if you love Christmas half as much as I do, you'll really enjoy this movie.
