Embark Backpack

Looking for a great backpack for back to school? Check out the ones from Embark at Target.

We bought my son an Embark Backpack for school last year. It had so much room and was holding up so well that when they put them on clearance later in the year, we bought another one to put away for this year.

What I really like about this backpack is all the pockets it has. My son is in elementary school where classroom storage is at a minimum, and they don't have any lockers. Everything they use daily is either stored in their small desks or their backpacks. Since they have so much stuff and nowhere to put it, we needed to find him something that could hold everything, was not to big for him to carry, and fit easily on the bus. This Embark backpack works perfectly for all three.

Made from a heavy-duty material, it really holds up to abuse. It has padded, adjustable shoulder straps, so it fits him securely and has plenty of space with 4 zippered compartments. The first compartment has mesh sides so it's breathable for when he is carrying items like sweaty gym clothes. The second compartment has organizational slots sewn into it to hold things like pencils and supplies. The third compartment is perfect for notebooks and agendas, while the last compartment is really large and can hold his winter jacket when it warms up later in the day. In addition, there are 2 elastic topped mesh pockets on the sides, perfect for water bottles, and a built-in hole for headphones to poke through, if you carry an iPod. For safety in the dark at the bus stop, there is reflector tape sewn in as well.

For the price, I highly recommend this quality backpack that made it through the whole year.

Update: November 23, 2010

We have been using the new backpack we purchased on clearance last year, since August of this year. So far we are just as happy with it as the last one that I wrote about in this review. It shows no signs of wear and looks brand new. Next year, the backpacks from Embark, will be the first ones we look at when we are back to school shopping.
