The hardcover book, "Encyclopedia of World History" by Parragon Publishing, is a wonderful educational book for kids. It is great to excite any child about history, or for secular homeschooling. The world history in this book starts four million years ago in the Stone Age. Each page of this history book has a useful timeline at the bottom of the page. Each page has full color illustrations or photographs of archeological finds.

This book covers not only prehistory and the ancient world of China, Egypt, Rome, Hebrews, the Celts, Greek, Africa and Indian empires. It also has lots of information about the Middle Ages, the Age of Discovery, Revolution and Industry, and the Modern World. An appendix that covers World Events is included.

More than other history books for children I have seen, this book describes life in the historical periods rather than dry lists of dates and events. The colorful illustrations will get a child's attention and the interesting facts will reel them in to learning about the history of the world.
