I purchased Fisher-Price Musical Baby DVD for one of my granddaughters. Wow, was it worth every penny and more.
The video has three cute puppets, "Taa", "Dee" and "Ed", who are a snail, a monkey and a frog. Babies and toddlers can also see real babies crawling, playing and laughing. They can also see Moms and Dads interacting with their babies.
As you might guess from the title of the DVD, there is lots of music, which is said to help a child's development by stimulating the brain.
The DVD includes 3 special features, learning about developmental milestones, a 10-minute Play Group segment and a precious "Little People" claymation episode.
"Musical BAby" is suggested for babies 3 months and up. My granddaughter was a few months old when I purchased this video. I thought surely she would tire of it after a few viewings. She is now 17 months old and gets the case herself for me to put it in the DVD player. She now sings along, claps her hands and is delighted each and every time she watches the video. Of course, she looks my way to make sure I'm interacting with the video (and her) as I did right from the start. She thinks something is off if she doesn't see Grandmoo (as I'm called) clapping her hands and singing.
One perk of this video (outside of the obvious) is when my granddaughter is in one of those cranky moods (which isn't often), this video has a very calming effect on her. She can go from fidgety and crying to smiling and singing. I've been amazed!
I've seen the positive effects of this video in helping my granddaughter's development. It helped me interact with her in such a fun way while learning.
Not only do I give "Musical Baby" a 5-star rating, but my granddaughter does as well. I'm wondering if she'll still be watching this video when she's 16...?
