Each year in May we head to Walt Disney World's EPCOT for two reasons: the first is for the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival, and second, to see Davy Jones at the Flower Power Concert series held at the America Garden Theatre. Although Epcot is a truly wonderful vacation destination, and our favorite Disney park, you have not experienced Epcot at its most beautiful time unless you have been there for this festival (although Christmas is a close second).

Epcot has hosted the International Flower & Garden Festival for 15 years and it's held from mid March to the beginning of June.

You will be awed by the millions of blooms & and the dozens of character topiaries from Future World to the World Showcase. The flower arrangements that appear at every turn has our camera clicking constantly.

There are lots of activities for the kids, hands on demonstrations by the Disney gardeners and seminars each weekend by TV and radio gardening specialists, like Paul James from Gardening by the Yard. There is Minnie's Butterfly Exhibit, a fragrance garden and many special garden items to purchase.

Every evening there are 3 Flower Power concerts at the America Garden Theatre. There is a new performer or group continuously throughout the Festival. We always arrange to be there when Davy Jones is performing. Some of the other well known names this year were Herman's Hermits, Jose Feliciano, Gary Puckett, Paul Revere and the Raiders, Tony Orlando and Petula Clark, to name just a few.

When you are done taking in all the flowers you can check out the "new" Space Ship Earth ride, get your hair blown back on Test Track, see Honey, I Shrunk the Audience, Journey into Imagination with Figment and don't miss Soarin!!

We love all the restaurants in World Showcase. We tried eating our way through the world once but just couldn't quite do it.

For a great destination, check out the International Flower and Garden Festival at EPCOT. You won't be sorry and you just might find some inspiration for your garden at home!!

Update On Mar 12, 2010: I've just returned from this year's Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival which runs from March 3 through May16, 2010. My main reason for this trip was to watch my daughter run in the Princess Half Marathon last weekend. I was happy to have the flower show starting last week also so I could attend this as well. The theme for this year is "Celebrate the Great Outdoors" which had all the Disney character topiaries decked out to have fun, whether it was roasting marshmallows or farming. I've uploaded all new pictures from this year so I hope you take a moment to check them out.

I was also lucky to attend the Flower Power Concert Series which showcases musicians from the 60's and 70's and which featured Jose Feliciano last weekend. There is a different performer or group each weekend throughout the flower show at the American Gardens Theatre, free of charge. We saw Taylor Swift and her entourage checking out all the activities so you never know who you might see!

Lastly, I've uploaded a short video of Jose performing the last part of Light My Fire. Unfortunately the first half was interrupted by the gentleman in front of us. Enjoy!
