Since having so much success with gel insoles in my own shoes, I decided to get some for my husband as well. Hubby's job requires a combination of sitting and standing; however that didn't seem to be a good enough reason to skimp on comfort. Just because he isn't on his feet constantly, doesn't mean his feet and legs do not get tired after a long day.
The insoles I bought for him to try are Equate brand Gel Insoles for Men. They have a completely gel base to act as a shock absorber, and a cloth top to help prevent moisture.
It took a couple days for him to get used to the insoles, but now my husband says he likes them. After a couple days they molded into his work shoes nicely, and now he doesn't notice them at all. Meanwhile, they are still providing that extra support and comfort.
A great feature of these insoles is how they fit into shoes. They come in a "one size fits all" package (Designed for Men's Sizes 8-13), but when I opened them, I discovered that they had handy cutting lines marked for each shoe size. It was easy to simply follow the guide and trim them to the proper size. I liked that they were not too small (or jagged, if I were to guess and try to cut them myself), or so long that they bunched up at the toe inside his shoes.
Overall, we are happy with these insoles. My only caution is that they don't seem to be as high quality as name brand ones. I imagine they will last about four months before needing to be replaced.
