I originally bought the Essential Home Gold Band Dinnerware Set about ten years ago, and I use it as my everyday china. I liked the design because the gold banding gives the white china a bit of elegance and sophistication without interfering with the color of my food. I can't microwave with this china because the gold banding is highly electroconductive and it sets off sparks in the microwave. I can wash these dishes in the dishwasher, but it's recommended that they be hand-washed. The tea cups are a little small, fine for a dinner party, but not for my breakfast coffee, so I hardly ever use them. I do like the size of the plates and bowls though, and especially the broad, shallow design of the bowl. I've broken a few dinner plates and chipped the rest, and I never thought I'd be able to replace the set. But I was looking in the Sunday flyer when I saw the Essential Home Gold Band Dinnerware Set, and I was thrilled to see my dishes at an even better price than I originally paid for them. So I went out and bought a replacement set for my chipped dishes.
