They Etymotic ER-6i's are medium end headphones that both look and sound great. The comfort of them mostly depends on your confort level when it comes to having things stuck fairly deep inside your ear. If you can't stand the feeling of having something clogging up your ear stay away from these, because they go pretty deep. If you're fine with it there's four different styles of eartips. Foam, three-flange, and two sizes of two-flange eartips. The foam eartips provide the best isolation and sound quality, but they're also the least durable and don't last as long as the alternatives. The sound isolation these provide is amazing as well, you can barely hear anything when there isn't any sound playing, and you're completely cut off from the world once you start playing music. This is both good and bad, it's great for trips on a bus, plane, etc. but I wouldn't want to walk around outside with them on, you wouldn't be able to hear any kind of honking or yelling. Included with the earphones is a carrying pouch which is nice, but isn't too practical for carrying in your pocket, just mostly to keep them safe in storage. The earphones look good also, they're minimalistic and match the most popular MP3 player, the iPod. Overall, I'd say these are the best earphones in their price range, but not too far ahead of the Shures.
