When I went to get my mail on 7/10/09, I was thrilled to see a sample from Eve Organics. I received a sample baggie of the matte eyeshadow, Lovely Lady.
The selection of eyeshadows is very good. They come in both matte and shimmer in a multitude of shades. Currently, they have 38 eyeshadows to choose from.
Eve Organics uses quality ingredients. In fact, their mineral makeup is vegan and does NOT have the following in it: talc, additives, fillers and bismuth oxychloride.
So many mineral eyeshadows are so, so shimmery and that is not my thing.
Some low-key shimmer is okay, but I definitely don't like looking like a discoball. Lovely Lady stands out to me from all the other mineral eyeshadows that I have tried because it had zero shimmer (yay!)
The color of Lovely Lady is a taupey, mushroomy, darkish tan. It is super neutral which is right up my alley. I think it would be great in a professional setting and great for day.
This morning (7/11/09) I applied Lovely Lady to my lids with a sponge-tipped applicator. I really like that the eyeshadow is matte. I don't like the application. It applied streaky and then once it was in place, it was very hard to blend. The color payoff of the shadow was good. You could definitely see the eyeshadow on my eyes and I think the shade really complements dark eyes and light skin. Since the eyeshadow is loose, there will be eyeshadow fall out under your eyes.
About 2 hours after I applied the eyeshadow, I took a walk. It was really hot out. I'd say it was around 80 degrees. When I got home, I looked in the mirror. I noticed a lot of creasing and runny eyeshadow, on my left eye especially. It was not a good look. I think if anyone experienced sweating or exercised while wearing this, they would experience the same effect.
All in all, I appreciate that this shadow is vegan and a much purer, more natural option than other makeup out there. I like the color a lot. I highly dislike the application and lack of staying power.
