Excellent But Not Cheap. Treat Yourself!

We were completely delighted with this hotel. You can't go wrong with the location - right across from the airport. We almost didn't bother with a hotel. Given that we were leaving Athens on a 5 am flight, it hardly seemed worth it. But the thought of trying to catch a few hours' sleep on the floor of the airport at the age of 40 changed our minds! We deserved a little comfort, we thought. So we paid Euro163 for one night in a queen-size room, room only. There's no doubt that it was excessive, but one look at the room told us it was (almost!) worth the money.

The design is excellent. The lines are beautiful. The lighting is just perfect. The wooden screen over the window was ideal. Everything from the bathrobes to the slippers was luxurious. The bathroom is straight out of a design magazine. The shower is divine (I want one!). The bed was like sleeping on a cloud. It was almost too good to sleep in. We slept like logs and felt like a king and queen.

Dinner was scrumptious but again overpriced at Euro66 for two courses each. I suppose they'll charge as much as they can get away with. After all, where's the competition?

The service was good, pleasant and smiley (service with a smile had been sadly lacking during our 2-week trip to Athens). Checkout was quick, easy and professional. Sweeties at the reception desk was a nice touch.

We only wished we had got there earlier in the evening and could have stayed longer - even at Euro163 a night (plus another Euro22 each for breakfast, apparently - phew!).

Summary: Excellent, but not cheap. Treat yourself!
