The winter snow was weighing heavy on the branches from the pines that are used to create a privacy fence between my lot and the neighbors. I knew that when warm weather returned I would need to trim the branches. My Fiskars Power-Lever Lopper did a good job trimming the lower branches but I could not reach the higher branches even using a step ladder.
I purchased a Corona Long Reach Pruner to reach the higher branches. This pruner does not have the cutting power of a Fiskars Power-Lever Lopper but the branches at the top of the pines are smaller therefore the extra leverage was not needed. The Corona Long Reach Pruner has a 1 ¼ inch cutting capacity. The pole is about 5 foot long. The cutting head can be rotated 180 degrees providing unlimited cutting positions. The cutting head is equipped with a Dual Arc Blade that bites into the branch then slices. Cutting is performed by pulling down on the hand grip. Cutting can also be performed by pulling on the rear grip extending the cutting reach even further.
The working mechanism at the cutting head is attached to a steel cable while the hand grip at the other end of the working mechanism is attached to a cord. I must admit that I have reservations about the longevity of the cord, it looks like it will beak over time. However, the Corona Long Reach Pruner comes with a lifetime warranty.
The Corona Long Reach Pruner can be used for bushes, shrubs and trees. While it does extend your trimming reach it is also ideal for trimming near the ground without having to lean over. If you have back pain or have trouble bending this may be the tool for you.
My Corona Long Reach Pruner purchase easily paid for itself by allowing me to extend my trimming reach without the need of a professional trimming service.
