My dad lives on a farm and he loves little weather devices. I had previously purchased a rain gauge at Lowe's Hardware Store for him. It had fairly large numbers, but the measurements were in some strange divisions (I don't remember exactly what, but it was not normal LOL).

He wanted one that he could put out in the yard away from the house, but he wanted to be able to read it from his porch. I thought he was asking the impossible because I had already searched high and low for the other one.

But, after a google search, I found a great one for him. The EZ Read Rain Gauge. The gauge is clear plastic with a bright red floating indicator inside. As the plastic tube fills up, the red floater disc moves up. The numbers on the gauge are huge and in a nice yellow color. The contrast of colors makes it easy to see both the floater and the number markings. The tube itself is 20" long and is made of "UV-stabilized Lexan" plastic.

The gauge sits in a bracket from which the tube can be removed so you can empty out the accumulated water. My dad put his gauge on a wooden post out in his backyard far enough away that the house did not affect the rain measurement. Or at least that is why he said he put it away from the house. He could have been pulling my leg.

The only thing that he said bothered him? The measurements are in quarter inches, not tenths. Next time he can find his own rain gauge!

( I was not sure what category this review should fall under. It's not really decor, but the other subcategories did not really fit either)
