Fabolous is one of those artists I feel sorry for. They are clearing under-rated and deserve more fame as far as sales go. From Nothin' to Somethin' is a pretty decent album compared to some stuff even more famous artists put together. What I noticed right away was that there was a pretty decent amount of guest singers and rappers on the CD, which in this case was a pretty smart move. Akon, Ne-Yo, T-Pain, Rihanna, Jay Z, and Swizz Beatz, just to name a few all complement Fabolous instead of overpowering him. Sure there was the ocassional misstep, but who doesn't make mistakes. You can tell how well produced From Nothin' to Somethin' was when you look at how well Make Me Better fared and how much airplay it gets. My personal favorite on this CD is "First Time" a song featuring Rihanna that I acutally liked. Unfortunatly, I never liked Rihanna that much, but this changed my mind. One of the saddest things I heard was that a friend told me she felt that Fabolous couldn't rap. I asked her why and she had repeated a line off of "Baby Don't Go". Quickly I realized that she misheard him and explained that it did indeed make complete sense. If there is one major problem with From Nothin' to Somethin' its that he could have spoken a little more clear for people who aren't used that thick accent. But hey, we can't blame him for that.
