Falls Creek cotton crew socks for women are good value, good fit, and come in nice color selections.
This summer I was on a quest to find new socks. I bought some others for hiking that I don’t like at all, but I also picked up a 6-pack of these at Meijer. I like everything about them except one detail that isn’t so good for me, but will be no problem for most people.
I have a small narrow foot, 5 ½ AA. What this means is that sock size 9-11 is a little too big, and sock size 4-8 is a little too small. So to get socks that really fit I have to find some that are sized in a way that most people would consider to be a little bit wrong. So most of you will be happy to know that these would properly fit women with shoe sizes probably 7-10. The packages always claim they fit shoe sizes 4-10, but unless you have wide feet, these will be too big if you wear size 6 shoe or smaller. They are just a little bit too big on me.
Now the good stuff.
Although these aren’t 100% cotton, they still feel nice. They are 80% cotton and 20% nylon. But they aren’t scratchy at all. They are not bulky socks, just a medium weight, smooth fitting sock to wear with sneakers.
The cuffs are long enough that you can fold them over once and still have them look nice, or you can leave them pulled up to keep your ankles warm under long pants in the winter. You can see in the picture that even though each of these pairs has been worn and washed several times since I bought them the cuffs are holding their shape well.
They came in several different color selection packages, including all white. I wanted some colors, but I don’t like red, pink, purple... so I was very happy to find one selection with white, off-white, gray, navy, blue, and dark green. I won’t have to give any of those away!
Made in the USA.
Update On Jul 11, 2009: Although these socks have remained just a little to large for me, they have kept their shape and are soft. I like them a lot, so if your feet are shoe size 7-9 these should fit perfectly.
