Susan Conant has written some great books. She has a series of dog lover mysteries as well as cat lover mysteries, and now another series called Gourmet Girl Mysteries. Fed Up is one of her most recent books, co-written with her daughter, Jessica Conant-Park.
Chloe Carter is studying to be a social worker and has a hunky boyfriend, Josh, who happens to be a chef at the up and coming restaurant, Simmer. Where Chloe goes, murder seems to follow. In this book, Josh is doing a reality series with a few other chefs as competitors. The object of the show is for each chef to find a customer in a grocery store, talk them into allowing the chef to pick up the makings of a great dinner, and then the chef will go home with the customer to make this dinner for the customer and his or her family members. The chef who does the best job wins the competition. Well, Josh makes a wonderful dinner for husband and wife, Leo and Francie, and poor Francie ends up dead after eating some of it. Not good news for a chef. It turns out Francie was poisoned, and the search is on to find out who did the dirty deed.
This is a fun book, and I thoroughly enjoy reading Susan Conant novels, but I especially enjoy these joint efforts by Susan and daughter, Jessica. My husband has been having some major health problems due to his diabetes, which has really turned our lives upside down right now. I needed some good reading to take my mind off of things when I have some free time to read (my husband is housebound at present and I've been looking after him), and this book is definitely helping to lighten my mood during this stressful time.
Oh, and another thing that's great about this book and other Gourmet Girl Mysteries. They include recipes!
