As a family we fly once or twice a year for our family vacations. Because we fly with 2 small children, finding an airline that makes the entire flight experience a positive one, is a must. For us, Southwest Airlines really fits our families travel needs.
You can search their fares on their easy to use website. They also have a really cool program called DING. Essentially you download an icon onto your desktop, and whenever Southwest releases seats at a fantastically discounted price, you get a little letter sign on the icon. You simply click on it and it will show you what the special pricing is, which is usually only good for a few hours. We got an amazing deal of $49.00 one way tickets to Orlando for our family using the DING program.
They do not have assigned seating, rather they board by the section listed on your boarding pass. We have never had a problem sitting together as they are kind enough to allow families with children 4 and under, to board first.
The planes are spacious, clean and comfortable. We have always found all the flight attendants to be warm, pleasant and helpful. We have never experienced any significant delays in their flight schedule and all flights have been smooth and relaxing. And yes, they still give out peanuts!
