"FileZilla: An Alternative File Manager Software"
If you need a tool to upload and download files on the Internet, especially for transferring files to and from web hosts, I offer an alternative software for you to use. It's called "FileZilla", and it is not only open-source (free), but also offers the user some speical advantages.
It is easy to use: connect to your host server by writing your host server address, user name, and password, then click the "quickconnect" button, and you'll be connected to your host and can start transferring or downloading files immediately. FileZilla supports "drag and drop" files, to make it even easier for the user to transfer files. It supports the transfer of files as large as 4 GB. You don't need to worry if you get disconnected when you are transferring files, and you don't need to start over. Just reconnect, start the queue, and choose "resume file transfer." FileZilla supports FTP, FTP over SSL/TLS (FTPS) and SSH File Transfer Protocol (SFTP).
You can use this software on several different operating systems including Windows, Linux, BSD, and OSX. FileZilla is also available in many languages. You can upgrade to the new versions for free, too. Of course FileZilla doesn't fit feature as well as commercial FTP file manager software like SmartFTP, but so far I've had no problems using FileZilla as my FTP file manager to transfer and download file to my web host.
