My husband is a fireman and he gets called out at all hours of the day and night. When he is on a call I am not going to call him or expect him to call me, but I can not help but worry and be proud at the same time.
He came in with a gift for me about a month ago. It is a 200 channel scanning receiver. You can program up to 200 channels or just let it scan automatically. He did however pre program all of the local channels for me so I can listen in while he is on a call which sets my mind at ease.
You can run it on 4 AA batteries or you can recharge it on the stand.
What I like about this is you can also use it for a weather radio as well, and here lately we have had some pretty bad weather.
This radio also has a clip for your belt so you are not confined to sitting in just one spot if you want to hear what is happening.
In my opinion this is the best gift I could of gotten, now I know where he is and whats going on so we are not wondering for hours if he is OK. Just last Friday they answered a simple call, if there is such a thing. It was an ATV accident, they left just before 5 and he did not get home until after midnight. When a death is involved that is just the way things go, they cannot leave a scene until they are told they can.
