My daughter recently had cough and colds due to the change of season and the weird weather system happening. Her cough sounded more like a whooping cough with intermittent fever and a runny nose.

I am scared of what I am hearing about the mutated virus coming from swines so I decided to take her to the doctor right away. She was given anti-biotics for respiratory tract infection and one of the medication was this Melrosum Syrup S.

Melrosum Syrup S is a thyme fluid extract syrup. It is an herbal preparation used in whooping cough and bronchitis.

It contains active substance of thyme fluid extract and some of its excipients are sugar syrup, honey aroma concentrate, rose oil, cherry juice concentrate, sodium benzoate and purified water. No wonder it taste a bit flowery because of the rose oil. It is not very sweet but has a pleasant taste compared to other cough syrups which taste so sweet and strong.

Like most cough medications, this syrup can make you groggy because of the alcohol content of the product.

My daughter was required to 5 ml three times a day and most times, she just fall asleep in less than an hour because of the side effect.

The syrup comes in 100 ml with free measuring cup.
