DreamWorks & Aardman have done an excellent job with the claymation effects in "Flushed Away". The visual performance is great, and creates many believable episodes (if they weren’t mice). Overall this is a good movie, but I do have a few caveats.

First of all, realize that it is a rated ‘PG’ movie, for crude humor and some language. Boy they aren’t kidding! We did watch it with the older kids, but had several spots where we stopped the movie to explain, “You don’t ever say that! Okay?”

There are sexual innuendos and crude humor throughout the movie. While most older children (probably 14+) have already heard this type of talk around the school, it’s still advisable to be there to explain it, or denounce it in daily practice. Notice the movie is not ‘PG-13’, meaning that it is geared towards a teen-ager audience, but with adult guidance.

Special features on this DVD are awesome! There is quite a bit of stuff here, and if you’ve got the DVD player on your computer, this is a real steal! Many different games to play ... this section alone will entertain your older kids for hours!

I give DreamWorks and Aardman a B+ for this movie. It’s really good ... just disappointing that they have attempted to market towards children. My wife and I call this new genre “animated films for adults”, even though this one technically isn’t a cartoon.
