Our church is always on the look out for camp sites because we hold a summer camp every year for our young people both from the high school and college levels. We are looking for simple places that offer cheap but rather comfortable accommodations, who can cook for us, and where we have storage facilities for food that should last up to a week.

Anyway, we found one in Busay, Bago City, in the province of Negros Occidental, Philippines. The place is called Humayan which literally translates to Ricefields. This place is run by a pastor and here they practice organic gardening. They grow their own rice the organic way. You can buy organic rice from them at a very affordable price.

The quarters are not grand, but simple yet complete with basic necessities. The problem with this place though is that it is in the lowlands, not a forested area. So it is very hot especially during summer. Despite the plants all around, the place is still hot. It is farm literally that was transformed into a camp. It is really nice and quiet for retreats, if you appreciate the warmth. It does not get cool here.

The rates are affordable, too, especially if in big groups and there is a kitchen with amenities. You can hire their cook for a fee and they can cook for big groups. I think they also accept individuals who would just want to spend time with God alone.

Just in case, this is their website, http://www.humayanministry.org/, and it has instructions on how to get there.
