This 28 Quart Ice Basket Chest Cooler is a great general purpose ice chest for a single person, couple, or very small family.

I use it every time I go shopping at Costco or Trader Joe's so that I don't need to worry about things defrosting if I stop someplace else on the way home. I just throw a couple of cooler packs in, and it is good to go.

There are three main selling points to this ice chest:

1. The Size - Small enough to fit in the trunk of virtually any car. Big enough to hold a Costco sized package of frozen chicken breasts or to stand two liter bottles upright. It is a decent size for road trips - just perfect for filling up with ice from the Motel 6 in Wall South Dakota. For tailgate parties it will hold about 3 dozen 12 ounce cans plus ice. It measures 13.5 by 21 by 10.5 inches and weighs about 5.5 pounds.

2. The Hinged Lid - Easy to open and you don't need to look for someplace to set down the lid. The lid is secured with 8 Phillips Head screws which could be removed if you would prefer to have a removable top and the ability to flip the top over for use as a drink holder and eating surface.

3. Molded Plastic Carry Handle - The handle makes it easy to carry this chest with one hand yet it folds down so it takes up very little space and you can easily stack things on top of it. The handle makes it feasible to carry it on public transportation (though you might get an occasional strange look).

The plastic is stain and odor resistant and is easy to clean-up with soap water and piece of cloth. Amazingly, Coleman sells replacement parts (though I have not needed any).

I am very happy with my Coleman 28 Quart Basket style cooler!
