As a long time sufferer of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, I have read many self help books on the subject. Although I have found several to be helpful, I believe that Freedom From Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is one of the best books around for OCD. The author of the book--Dr. Jonathan Grayson--is the director of The Anxiety and Agoraphobia Treatment Center located in Philadelphia, and his expertise in dealing with OCD is evident throughout the book.
Freedom From Obsessive Compulsive Disorder begins by explaining what OCD is, the causes of it, and possible treatment options. Dr. Grayson then describes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and explains how to use this tool to eventually end your battle with OCD. Throughout the book, various obsessions and compulsions are identified, and Dr. Grayson offers techniques to handle these obsessions and compulsions when they arise. The book also includes therapy scripts and trigger sheets, and even a chapter focusing on the times after recovery when a relapse is possible.
I recommend Freedom From Obsessive Compulsive Disorder for anyone who is suffering from OCD. OCD is a devastating condition, but this book has helped me tremendously in the past year. If you have not found help anywhere else, give this book a try.
