The Yankee Candle Scentstories looks like a CD player. In this player, you place a disc containing 5 scents. The player will "play" a scent for thirty minutes before moving to the next one. You can set your disc to any scent you wish or just let it play through them all. Each scent plays for 30 minutes before moving on to the next. Packaging states that the disc provides 50 hours of scent, but I haven't played mine long enough to know if that's true. There is also an intensity button for those who want WOW, jump out at you strong, or less scent for the more delicate of noses.
After plugging in this machine I played Sparkling Lemon on the strongest intensity. The machine makes a little bit of noise, but from a distance it's not really noticable to me. Within about two minutes of the highest intensity I could smell the scent across the livingroom. My livingroom is rather large, too. The air flowing from the unit is cool so I don't have to worry about my toddler burning herself. I'm really impressed.
The downside to Scentstories is the limited access for disc purchase. The only way to get Yankee's discs is to order from their website. Unfortunately they got backlogged on shipping and I had to wait a month to get mine. However the bottom of the player says Febreze so it's possible that it could be purchased elsewhere. The choices for scents are some what limited as well, but I think there is something for any scent lover. The bottom of the machine does say Febreeze on it, so I would imagine it's possible to purchase it elsewhere.
Overall, I would repurchase this product. I think it would make a wonderful gift.
