I purchased this air conditioner a few years back after reading many good things concerning it in various publications. I needed a unit that would fit in the bedroom window. Its ability to cool is quite good. I run it on the low setting the vast majority of the time. The overall efficiency is pretty good as it hasn't run my electricity bill over the roof. It cost about 20-30 dollars more a month to run and I didn't think of that as too bad. It is energy star rated which is important these days with the elevated price of electricity. Three things that I do have to however note was that I needed to add some additional drainage holes in the bottom of the unit to help out with the draining. The Friedrich company should have done a better job in that area for sure. I feel I should also mention that this unit is one heavy machine. It is definitely not light. It would also be helpful if it were to operate quieter as well. The overall experience though is a good one as the machine operates flawlessly and is very powerful. There also have been no mechanical problems with it since the time of purchase several years ago. Not a bad choice to help one cool down in the hot and humid Ct summers.
